About Adrian Gorman

Adrian Gorman is former Head of Care at an independent residential school for EBD statemented children in West Sussex before which he was a Residential Social Worker and then Principle Residential Social Worker. Adrian has worked with youth and mental health organisations and is now an independent training consultant, He is registered with CCETSW and City & Guilds as an NVQ Assessor, and is Chairman of the Mid-Downs Care NVQ Management Board.

Adrian is Certified in Reality Therapy and has been using the ideas since 1990. He is one of the first persons in the UK to achieve European Accreditation as Reality Therapy Psychotherapist. . He uses this approach as a model for working with all client groups. Adrian has a degree from The University of North Florida in Therapeutic Recreation, and has worked for a number of years in the USA as a Counsellor.

Adrian is the a member of Faculty and Executive Board for The Institute For Reality Therapy UK, the body responsible for overseeing the training and development of the ideas of Choice Theory and Reality Therapy in the United Kingdom. He has recently been appointed as European Registrar for the new (2009) Psychotherapist accreditation award.

Earlier Years

Adrian has served with the British Parachute Regiment, and has been extensively involved in outward bound and adventure activities where his approach, included using Reality Therapy has been very successfully in helping participants meet and overcome challenge and change in difficult circumstances. He is a founder member of the Association of Caving Instructors (UK) and has held Mountain Leader Qualifications (MLTB Winter) as well as Open Canoe Coach awards.
