We have very recently embarked on the journey of establishing this extensive training programme here in the UK for those people interested in gaining this prestigious, European-wide qualification in psychotherapy. There are now at least 5 Reality Therapists, based in Slovenia, Bosnia and Croatia, who have already been awarded the ECP and we will initially be using their guidance and mentorship to help steer our path over the next few years.
In brief, the total duration of the training is a minimum of 3200 hours, spread over some 7 years, with the first 3 years being the equivalent of a university degree. The later 4 years of which must be in training specific to psychotherapy.
There are two routes, beyond a person gaining RT Certification, that can followed for the purposes of gaining this qualification. One is by following the already existing Faculty Training route and the other is referred to simply as the Psychotherapy Training route.
